About, compliance & security

Built around the duty of full and frank disclosure

In South African divorce and Rule 43 proceedings, both parties owe the court — and each other — complete honesty about their finances. Rule43 Disclosure exists to make meeting that duty easier, faster, and more accurate.

Why disclosure matters

Interim maintenance under Rule 43 (and Rule 58 in the Regional Court) is decided largely on paper. The court weighs each party's means and needs, and the financial disclosure form is the backbone of that assessment. In several divisions — notably Gauteng — a completed FDF is mandatory in opposed matters and in Rule 43 applications where maintenance is in dispute. An incomplete or inconsistent disclosure damages credibility and can cost a party dearly.

What this platform is — and is not

Rule43 Disclosure assists with the preparation and organisation of financial information. It does not provide legal advice, it does not tell you what to claim, and it does not replace your attorney. Every figure and classification remains reviewable by you and your legal representative before anything is finalised, signed, or filed.

Data handling & privacy

Your draft disclosure is stored in your own browser, on your own device, and stays there after you sign out unless you clear it. If you choose Save to my account, the matter is stored on our servers, private to you by default. A Firm matter owner can explicitly share a saved matter with their current paid team; those colleagues can read and download it but not change the owner's saved answers, and sharing can be withdrawn at any time. Supporting documents you upload are stored privately with the saved matter until you remove them or delete the matter, and are only streamed after sign-in and access checks. Downloading sends the form to our server to check paid access and create the PDF without retaining the form or PDF; we keep a permanent matter reference and keyed identity record. Reviewing a bank-statement CSV happens on your device. Your disclosure fields and uploaded documents are not automatically sent to any AI service — the guide only sees a question if you choose to send it, so please don't include confidential records in guide or support messages. You control when — and with whom — the finished document is shared.

Accuracy you can defend

Automatic totals remove arithmetic errors, and the structured layout means every figure sits in the section a court or mediator expects to find it. When a number is questioned, it can be traced back to the schedule — and from there to the source record behind it.

Security & data handling, in brief

  • Your draft disclosure stays in your own browser on your own device while you work, and each account's draft is kept separate. Save to my account retains the form on our servers, private to you unless you explicitly share it with your Firm team. Downloading also sends the form to our server to check paid access and generate the PDF; that export does not retain the form or PDF. A permanent matter reference and keyed identity record prevent reuse for a different person or matter.
  • Uploaded supporting documents stay private with your saved matter until you remove them or delete the matter. Your disclosure and documents are not automatically sent to any AI service; the guide only receives a question if you choose to send one.
  • You decide when the finished document is exported and who receives it. We treat disclosure information as confidential by default, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
