How it works
The prescribed financial disclosure form is long and unforgiving. Rule43 Disclosure breaks it into a guided process with automatic calculations — so the finished document is complete, consistent, and ready for review.
Stage 1
The prescribed FDF1 is broken into ten manageable steps that follow the form's own numbering — general information, the family home, other properties, personal assets, business and pension interests, liabilities, income from every source, the monthly maintenance schedule, and other relevant circumstances. Plain-language prompts explain what each section asks for and why it matters.
Stage 2
Every total the form requires is computed as you type: Totals A–F for assets, G for liabilities, the net asset position, income Totals H–L, and the full Section 3 maintenance schedule with separate Self and Child/ren columns. No spreadsheets, no arithmetic errors, no re-adding figures when something changes.
Stage 3
Finish with a print-ready PDF that mirrors the prescribed form's structure: numbered sections, bordered schedules, the 2.19 capital summary and 2.20 income summary, and a signature block with the Commissioner of Oaths section. Hand it to your attorney to settle, or attach it to your application.
Each step mirrors the official form's numbering, so nothing is missed and your attorney can cross-check against the prescribed layout.
Asset, liability and income totals roll up automatically, and the net position is always current as you edit.
All 72 expense rows of Section 3, grouped exactly as the form groups them, with Self, Child/ren and Total columns.
Asset and liability schedules are organised so accrual calculations can be done from a clean, complete dataset.
Every amount sits in the section it belongs to, so figures can be traced back to source records during review.
Working drafts are saved in your browser. Save to my account retains the form on our servers for another device. Downloading sends the form to our server for paid-access checks and PDF creation without retaining it; a permanent matter reference and keyed identity record are kept. Financial records are not sent to third-party AI services.
Security & data note: working drafts stay in your browser, including after sign-out. Account saving retains the form on our servers. PDF download sends it for temporary server processing and retains only the matter reference and keyed identity record. Financial records are never sent to third-party AI services.
The same guided form serves both paths — what differs is how the output is used.
| Litigation | Mediation / inter partes | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Disclosure for a Rule 43 / Rule 58 application or opposed divorce | Each party prepares their own disclosure to share in mediation |
| Output | Print-ready FDF1 with Commissioner of Oaths section | The same structured schedules, without the oath block |
| Deadlines | Built around court exchange timelines | Completed at each party's own pace |
| Review | Settled by your attorney before filing | Each party shares their own PDF with the mediator and the other party |
In mediation, each party can prepare their own financial disclosure with their own account. Each disclosure stays separate; nothing is combined or compared automatically.
Gauteng High Court. Under the Johannesburg revised consolidated Practice Directive 1 of 2024 (footnote 18), each party must complete the FDF under oath and exchange it in every opposed divorce action and in every Rule 43 matter in which maintenance is in dispute (directive).
Regional courts. Paragraph 7.5.7 of the Civil Practice Directives for the Regional Courts (2024 revision, effective 2 January 2025) requires a sworn FDF1 from each party in an opposed divorce action where maintenance or proprietary relief is in dispute, and in every opposed Rule 58 application where maintenance is in dispute (published copy).
Where a particular prescribed form is not mandatory, a complete, organised disclosure still helps you prepare a Rule 43 or Rule 58 application and the supporting affidavit, and gives mediators and the other party a clear picture of your finances. Rules and directives change and vary between divisions, so check what currently applies to your matter.
