How to complete Section 3: the monthly maintenance schedule

Section 3.1 organises monthly maintenance needs into Self, Child/ren and Total columns. Review each applicable row against bills and statements. Explain estimates, missing records and non-applicable items; software totals do not verify the evidence behind a number.

Separate a shared household payment from an expense specific to one person. A fictional R2,000 school-fee invoice for one child belongs in the child's expense explanation; the same bill must not be added again as a separate R2,000 personal expense. Shared groceries or housing need a stated basis of allocation rather than an unexplained split.

Convert non-monthly bills consistently. A fictional R24,000 annual school charge, spread over twelve months, is R2,000 per month. State that basis and check whether the fee excludes extras. Do not add both the annual bill and its monthly equivalent to expenditure. Seasonal and once-off costs need an explanation rather than being assumed to recur every month.

The Total column must represent the expense once. If separate Self and Child/ren amounts already cover a household bill, their total is not an additional payment. Check the app's displayed row total and the final schedule against your intended allocation before downloading.

Keep document labels and periods clear, such as '3.1 School fees, annual invoice, monthly equivalent'. Explain whether a figure describes current spending or a proposed need. Your attorney should advise on what is claimed and how it is supported; the app does not judge reasonableness or predict an order.
