Why proper financial disclosure matters in interim maintenance
14 October 2026

A useful disclosure makes figures traceable: what an asset or debt represents, the date of the value, the source of income and the basis of monthly expenditure. Consistent categories help the reader distinguish a confirmed balance from an estimate or an unresolved issue.
Rule 43 concerns interim relief in the High Court; Rule 58 concerns the regional magistrates' courts. Applicable directives and procedures must be checked separately. The form can also help organise information for mediation even when that particular form is not mandatory.
Each party prepares their own financial picture. A structured questionnaire helps identify missing fields, but does not verify completeness or establish that competing figures are agreed. Record explanations of uncertainty rather than presenting an unsupported figure as exact.
Rule43 Disclosure assists with preparation, reviewed classifications, calculations and PDF output. It does not give legal advice, perform court filing or predict an outcome. Ask an attorney about the requirements and consequences relevant to your particular matter.
